StudentAs I was learning about Bitters, knowing that they stimulate the digestive system and increase appetite and digestion, I was wondering if they would be helpful if incorporated into some of the formulas used in countries where they nourish the starving back to health. Most likely they wouldn’t be used in full force at first, I wouldn’t think. Anyone have thoughts on this or knowledge?

Homestead InstructorI don’t know that bitters would have enough effect on the absorption of nutrients to make a big difference to that end. There are some good herbs for that though. Have a look at the Nutritive and Digestive Prebiotic formulas’ herbs.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentTopic AuthorI have a perforated colon. I have been thinking of your healing salve/spray that you show in videos on dogs. It makes sense to me that there has to be a formula that would also heal wounds internally as well. Can you guide me in the right direction, if so?
Many thanks in advance.

Homestead InstructorA perforated colon is pretty serious. Is your doctor not wanting to do surgery for some reason? Or is it something like diverticulitis?

StudentTopic AuthorYes, I know. Was told in the ER that there were two very small perforations, spent four days there on antibiotics, told I couldn’t have surgery until the inflammation and infection was gone and to see a colorectal surgeon. At that point the surgery would be elective. I see the CR surgeon on the 6 th. Since then have been seeing a Naturopathic GI who put me back on different Anitibiotics since the infection flared up again. I am also on potent doses of probiotics and curcumin, and a gut soothing, supporting supplement. The perforation is a complication of diverticulitis attack I had the month previous that apparently didn’t get cleared up.

Homestead InstructorTurmeric with fresh ground black pepper is really good for improving nutrient absorption. That’s probably what I’d do for malnourished folk.
