        Hello !

I am just going through the lesson on Black-Eyed Susan and was just curious when I read that the seeds are poisonous and are not safe for consumption. Does that mean that harvesting the flower wouldn’t be safe ? I have a lot of black eyed Susan on my property and would like to dry it to use for salves and tinctures but I don’t want to accidently include the seeds in them. Would harvesting the petals and leaves be safer ?

        Thanks, Elizabeth

I harvest the whole flower, what you don’t want to do is let the flower go to seed and THEN harvest it. As long as you grab the flowers when they are blooming and looking lovely, you should be fine
