Hello, I was just wondering why the ingredients in the Blood KLNZ and Immunity Support formulas on the HomeGrown Herbalist website are different than the formulas given in the school?  For example, the Blood KlNZ on the website includes Sweet Wormwood, Mistletoe, Milk Thistle ex. While the formula given in the school does not. Also, because the online formula has Sweet Wormwood in it, does that mean it wouldn’t be a good idea to take long term? As always thank you for your help!

          Hi Sarah,

Formulas evolve and change. Sometimes a formula is changed because an ingredient is scarce, expensive or hard to work with. Sometimes I learn something about an herb that makes it a better candidate in a formula than the old guard herbs that are there.  In the case of Blood Klnz and Immunity Support, I also wanted to pare down the number of herbs a little. I didn’t realize I hadn’t updated them in the school. I’ll make the corrections. Thanks for the heads up.

          Blood KLNZ

          1 Burdock,

          1 Ginger,

          1 Licorice

          1 Milk Thistle

          1 Mistletoe,

          1 Red Clover

          1 Sweet Wormwood

          Immunity Support

          1 Astragalus

          1 Chaga

          1 Echinacea

          1 Garlic

          1 Olive Leaf

          1 Siberian Ginseng

Hey Doc – to clarify – the Blood KLNZ Milk Thistle is the seed, right?

Also, what could/should one use instead of Mistletoe?

And I’ll second Sarah’s question: “Because the online formula has Sweet Wormwood in it, does that mean it wouldn’t be a good idea to take long term?”

In the Immunity – is the Echinacea the root or the flower (or maybe Black Eyed Susan)?

And for the Chaga – you use a powdered extract?  I don’t see anything for chaga in your store except tincture and wouldn’t know how to use that in the formula.

Thanks as always Doc!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Just realized that my question is still hanging out there.  Also, what can I use instead of Chaga for the Immunity Support?  Hopefully this bump will get some answers to the above question.  Thanks.
