I am looking for a book with color photographs for plant identification for the western states. Any suggestions?

I am wondering if Michael Moores books have color photos or all black and white. Or the weed guide for the western United States (I forgot the name). I do have Doc Jones book but just interested in identifying more plants out there.

Moore does have a few color plates, but not many. Your search is one I have been on for quite some time. Most books are for back East and most of the rest are too generic.

Weeds of the West is one that Patrick has and uses.

I came across a book that might be helpful:

Practical Guide to Southern Idaho’s Wild Edible Plants by Steven Golieb. Every plant in the book has a color photo.

Please add the ISBN number to your post.

Weeds of the West is a good book and has good pictures. Many of the plants are medicinal.

The Golieb book doesn’t have an ISBN number. For questions the first page says to contact steve@goliebglobal.com

Also states: this book was made in conjunction with Edible Wilds, LLC of Eden, UT

                  Hope this helps.

Sent him an email. I did not see the book on the web site.

Email bounced too! :scared: :face palm 2:

Weeds of the West is out of print on Amazon but the University of Wyoming still prints it. They have a website for plant identification, which I believe is largely using data from this book.

This is also available as EPub format, but is 800 MB.

I understood that you could still purchase an updated copy of this book by contacting the U of W directly, but I can’t find the right contact information.
