Hello A B,
Boswellia serrata is what I have in my Modern Herbal Dispensatory book and states it is also called Frankincense … I have seen Boswellia papyrifera also (on Starwest Botanticals) but my books state serrata as the species … Doc’s Joint Support only states Boswellia resin so I can’t say if there are differences in these species. What I can offer is that Frankincense (the term usually refering to the Essential Oil in Aromatherapy) is Boswellia ( as used in the herbal trade) … resin, powder, or tears, they are all the same but in slightly different forms. Powdered herbs last for about a year as they oxidize faster and resin or tears will need to be crushed or broken up to allow the menstruum to reach more surface area of the herb during maceration. I’ll order both depending on my current need or what is available. Dr Axe gives some info on the aforementioned species and I believe Doc Jones i ok with that site as he has referred to him too. I hope this is helpful 🙂 Happy New Year!
