Hey everyone!
I wanted to share this salve recipe from Rosemary Gladstar. I have made it a few times, and I give it away to friends and family because I find it extremely effective for burns and rashes.
First, make a solar-infused oil by placing equal parts comfrey leaf, calendula flower, and St. John’s wort leaf and flower into a large glass jar and adding olive oil to submerge. Cover tightly and place in a sunny spot like a window. Let it steep for 2 weeks, inverting to mix once daily. Strain the oil through cheesecloth, making sure to squeeze as much as possible out. I like to make this more potent by putting the oil back in the jar and adding fresh herbs, more oil to cover, and letting it sit another 2 weeks. After 4 weeks, the oil will be ready to make the salve by adding 1/4 cup beeswax to 1 cup oil, heating just until melted. Pour into jars. I have used this salve after grabbing a cast iron pan handle that had come out of the oven. The salve eased the pain after 5 minutes of applying! It also works great on sunburns.
