Is it better to store Calendula flowers whole for tea and use them as such, or grind into powder for tea?  Would 1 tsp. be a good therapeutic amount? 2 or 3 flower heads?

        Thanks

So far I’ve only used them as full flower heads in my tea bags, and I always grab 3-4. Now that I’ve gotten way more Calendula flowers this year, I do plan on powdering some of them and see how it turns out

Either is fine. Powdering herbs decreases shelf life a bit, but not much. One advantage of powdering is that it creates more surface area for the water (or tincture booze) to interact with so you get a little better extraction. 1-2 teaspoons of dry powder is the adult dose for most herbs.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

When I tincture herbs, especially fluffy stuff like mullein, the 1:5 ratio doesn’t even get all the herbs wet.  Help, please!

Yeah some herbs are so light that it doesn’t do much. If you have fermentation weights, that might help compress the herbs a bit more

I saw an herbalist throw the whole mess into a blender once and then just added as much afterwards as necessary to ensure the herb was covered.  He said sometimes you just have to add the extra, but the blender helped.
