StudentIs there any reason calendula infused grape seed oil should not be used on a newborns skin? I have a family member with a newborn that has raw creases on her ankles and I was wondering if a dab of oil might be helpful on those areas.

StudentIf it’s organic grapeseed oil, it would be ok. Â Grapes are a very high-pesticide crop and most oil on the market that I have found is not organic. Â On my babies, I have used at newborn stage and do use, at their now ages of 4 years and 11 1/2 months, many oils and butters, including, but not limited to, argan (very nice and light), olive, coconut, cocoa butter, shea butter, etc. Â I make my own diaper balm as well as soaps, salves, etc – 17 years of experience. Â I have used my homegrown calendula for many years in my products and it’s been great for infants and adults.

Homestead InstructorIn the medicine making section there’s a lotion lesson. In there is a presentation for a great baby (or adult baby) lotion for skin stuff.

StudentI’m a new dad and was looking for some resources on this too. I have a salve with coconut oil, pure beeswax, lavender, calendula, comfrey, plantain, yarrow, and nettle in it. It has a bunch of great stuff in it but if it doesn’t clear up soon, I’m going to try a beef tallow balm that my wife makes and has helped me out incredibly well in the past with dry skin issues.
