Hi, I’ve been a practicing massage therapist for 12 years and am excited to bring herbalism into my practice.

        Very excited to be here.

Hi Lacinda, I am also a licensed massage therapist in Oregon. I was wondering how do you think you might work herbs into your practice? I have been thinking of that too. I just don’t know how that works with my state licensing rules and laws. I’ll have to check.

Antispasmodics are a massage therapists best friend.

I was once at a conference in a booth next to my buddy Sharik Peck (Inventor of the Rezzimax Tuner). He’s a physical therapist. HE had a table there and was working on folks throughout the day.

A lady was walking to his table to get worked on for some kind of musculoskeletal malady and I said, “Hold on a minute, I have something that make this easier” I gave her a little Lobelia. About five minutes into the treatment, Sharik’s eyes got great big. He said “Holy cow! I’ve never worked on tissue that was this relaxed! I’ve never felt anything like this!” When the lady got up from the table, she felt way better than either of them had expected. :0)

This formula is better than straight Lobelia:

              Muscles NoMoSpazms

The tincture has the fastest action. You can do it internally and topically.

The formula is on slide #7 of this presentation: https://homesteadacademy.com/course/homegrown-herbalist/lessons/page-bone-muscle-cartilage-and-joint-formulas/

Doc, other than using Lobellia in a formula as one of several herbs, does it have merit on it’s own as a tincture?  Also, turmeric – I know it’s good taking the powder, but is it valuable as a tincture?  If so, for both of these, what is the best “function” of tincture for either vs the powder?  Thanks much – trying to decide if I need to tincture, and if so, how much to save as a powder vs tincturing.  Thanks 🙂

For internal use, herbs works the same whether tinctured or powdered. If I wanted a single-herb antispasmodic tincture, cramp bark has wider margins of safety than Lobelia (safe from puking I mean). For topical use, Lobelia tincture straight is fine. Turmeric topically stains everything yellow.
