I have an intact female cat. Someday I will let her have some kittens but she is not even a year old yet and I am not ready for more cats. I’d like to give her something to decrease the discomfort of being in heat. Are there any herbal formulas that can reduce symptoms or shorten time in heat?

Unfortunately, cats are induced ovulators, in other words, they don’t like to ovulate (and end the heat) until they’ve met a handsome fella. So celibate girl kitties sometimes take a while to go out of heat.

I’ve never tried anything herbal to bring a cat out of heat. It’d be interesting to see what a little chamomile would do.  Chamomile is calming (which is nice for a cat in heat anyway) but it also has some mild emmenagogue properties to shorten and normalize a heat cycle in a gentle way.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
