Regarding the medicinal use of cayenne, is it cayenne specifically, or is capsaicin the actual healing agent? Will any hot pepper work the same way? Hubby and I do like a habanero in our dishes occasionally, especially in soups. :flapper: I don’t much care for jalapenos though.

The capsaicin is the medicine. Cayenne is the most commonly used medicinally, but any hot pepper will have similar properties.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Hotter means more medicine per dose or smaller dose.
