Does anyone know about coconut oil? Is it a bad option for fats?  As a saturated fat, is it harmful for the arteries or not? I have read conflicting things.  Is it ok to consume if the diet is generally low sugar?

My rule of thumb for oils is that if you can squeeze the plant (or critter) and get oil out of it, it’s a good oil. You can squeeze coconuts, olives, avocadoes and fishies and get oil out of them. You can’t get oil by squeezing corn or other grains.

My wife Lori is a nutrition nut and understands and thinks a lot about these things. She is a big fan of coconut oil.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Coconut oil has many wonderful uses and benefits as it is  a medium-chain triglyceride making it readily usable to the body for fuel. Like any other fat that has its respective place in the diet, it should be consumed in moderation.
