I had a slightly sprained wrist and decided to try a comfrey poultice on it. I blend my comfrey leaves with vodka and then spoon it onto a paper towel, wrap it in plastic wrap and freeze it for future use, so I just took one of those out, wrapped it around my wrist and left it on for 6 hours.

My wrist was stained green when I took it off (no big deal) but then my skin felt irritated and started to peel like a sunburn. Any one else have this reaction? Could it be the vodka? Or did I leave it on too long? Any ideas/ input would be appreciated!

More likely the vodka than the comfrey but could be either. TInctures topically are a great idea if they can evaporate off, but preventing that evaporation may cause issues from the alcohol irritating the skin. If you want to poultice, mix dry herbs with water or just use fresh ground herbs.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
