So I’m confused about black pepper tincture – when and why we take it.  I understand many of the properties of it, but is it more or less a long term daily tonic of sorts?  I’m almost thinking the tonic given the anti-cancer properties…  Or is it more like something we add a few drops of to other tinctures/blends to make the other one more bioavailable?

On a similar but different note – I’m wondering about turmeric capsules and black pepper tincture.  When I make my turmeric caps, I wonder if I could put like 2 drops of BP tincture in the capsule – or whether even that little bit might dissolve the capsule.  Obviously one can’t grind the pepper and put it in the capsule as it would be worthless by the time it was consumed given the extremely short shelf life of fresh ground pepper.  Maybe putting a substitute for the BP in the capsule as a powder to boost the turmeric?  Thoughts?

Tincture in a capsule won’t work and ground pepper in a capsule won’t last. Grind some fresh pepper into the glass of water you’re going to use to wash the capsules down.

We’ve just finished a deep Monograph on black pepper. It will likely be edited and uploaded in the next couple of days to add to the quickview that’s here:

            Black Pepper Piper nigrum
