Hi everybody, I wonder when is the best time to harvest corn silk? do you have some indication, or a picture of how it looks like when it’s good to be harvested?

what do you do then, you make a tincture of the fresh silk or do you let it dry and use it as a dried herb?

Since I plan to grow some ancient mexican corn variety this Summer, I will harvest the corn silk as well! :hee hee:

        thanks!

The corn silk tassel starts drying out after germination and as the kernels develop and plump up. Harvest the corn when most of the kernels are plump. I process my corn right after harvest, shuck the corn by pulling off the outer leaves and pull as much of the corn silk as possible away from the cob. I put the silk in an open paper bag to dry – inside the house. I use the corn silk as a died herb.

          Hope that helps!

When the corn is ready the silk is ready.
