Does anyone know if I should strip the buds off the cramp bark canes before I strip the bark off?

I think I heard or read somewhere that you want to get down to the green portion of the branch, especially with larger branches.

a bud won’t hurt you and Paige is right, you want the inner green cambium. On really small branches, I don’t bother separating off the thin outer bark
