It’s the time of year when the Dames Rocket in my yard is getting ready to send up stalks and flower. Does anyone know if there’s any use for it other than ornamental?

It has some historical use for inflammation and respiratory illness but I’ve never used it.

We have a lush patch of Dame’s Rocket in early summer, too. It is in the mustard family, so it’s edible. It tastes like a mild mustard. The hummingbird moths love it. They come out at night and visit the flowers. It is really special to watch!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who enjoys it! Everyone who visits my greenhouse business asks me about it but they never want a plant or any seed for some reason. We don’t have many hummingbird moths but the swallowtail butterflies love it! I’ll have to taste it someday. Thank you!
