I have a cat that is due to birth kittens any day now. Her first pregnancy ended in all 5 stillbirths. We believe this was due to the abnormally large size of one of the kittens, while she is smaller than the average house cat. We do know the sire of this one. He is a larger than normal cat.

This is her second pregnancy. This time she has only had access to one normal sized male. She has reduced the amount of food she is eating. I expect labor to begin soon.

My question is, if she gets into trouble this time around, is there something we can do to speed up the births?

I have black cohosh tincture available.

Hello again folks. She miscarried 3 this time. She may become pregnant again. The delivery process is hard on her and us. It has taken several days to complete. She refuses to eat for part of this time, during which we force-feed milk with warmed honey administered with a dropper.

Both times the kittens were moving around on the day before birth began. I did not notice the absence of movement on the day labor began.

We will now be isolating her during the time she is in heat. However, we won’t know if she is in heat until she exhibits the behavior. So we may miss it for several hours. We cannot at this time get her spayed.

Is there anything that can be done next time to make the delivery time period faster?

Spaying is the best solution, but you know that.

Local shelters often have programs for reduced-price/free spays for folks that can’t afford it.

Feed her kitten food while she’s pregnant. Her poor uterine contraction could be a mineral deficiency.

Black cohosh and cotton root bark are both good for opening the cervix and promoting labor.

A cat would get bout .1 to .2 cc tincture in the very back of the mouth.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

                Thank you for help.

I need to buy new bottle of black cohosh. I find 100 mg dose per 1 mL. I assume this is the strength to use, dose of .1 – .2 cc per application?

Also for people I see with midwife approval, dosage given 3 time daily. Is this correct for cat when labor is due?

Good news, Cat not pregnant yet. Issolation working.
