Sad day today. I have aster yellows disease in my herb garden. I’m having to dig up half my herbs to throw away. The Iowa state university lab says the infected herbs are not harmful to people so I’m not sure if medicinally if there is anything good to them yet before I trash it all. I have to start over so many plants that have been established for 4-5 years. I wish I realized this disease last year but I assumed what I was seeing on the plants was brown spots from drout and high Temps 🙁

Also if Doc or anyone has a complete list of the 300 species aster yellows affects that would be great. Iowa State couldn’t find a conclusive list.

            Aster Yellows

I see that Olivia did not find an answer to her question regarding the medicinal viability of a plant infected with aster yellows.  I too, have plants afflicted.  It has gotten my echinacea and I am wondering what part of the plant, if any, is still good for medicine making?
