StudentHey Doc, I would love your opinion on this. Â I’ve been having lots of unexplained hip and ankle pain when I am trying to sleep. Â The issues are not real common, predictable, or intense during the day, but sleeping (no matter which blend I try for sleep) is very interrupted by the mandatory moving and fiddling with the heating pad to help with the pain. Â I’ve tried many topical options (hops, rest easy, skullcap, willow, chamomile, nomospazms, etc) – as well as taking them orally at night. Â This has been going on for about 2 weeks or so, and getting very old! Â So I got to thinking that maybe I just need much more anti-inflammatory help with a little nervine action as well to help with whatever is going on. Â So I was thinking of this blend (4 or 5 times a day till better?):
Ashwagandha, Calendula, Devil’s Claw, Hops, Skullcap, Teasel, and Yarrow.  What would you change, delete, add – or other thoughts on this.  I am going thru the Herbal Cleanse, but this started before that (I’m only 2/3 of the way thru the first week on the cleanse).  Please help, I really would like to be able to sleep again!  Thanks much 🙂

Dr. Patrick Jones
Homestead InstructorThat formula would likely help. Have a look at the Joint Support Formula too. Have you looked at the Pain lessons?
Also read the case study on Dave in the case studies section. I talk a lot about inflammation there.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentTopic AuthorI did my “formula” for 3 days, then when you replied, I’ve done Joint Support 2 days now. Â I think I’m getting better – but honestly had to resort to Motrin and Benadryl to knock out the pain and let me sleep. Â I tried the herbs that normally help me sleep, but the pain would override the sleep ability. Â I’ve gone without Motrin today and will tonight as well, so we’ll see if the inflammation is on the run or not. Â Still using JS five times a day for now! Â I watched both the pain section as well as the case study, but need a refresher, so it’s back to it again! Â If I could just retain in my brain better… Â And yes, I’m taking the memory formula LOL!
