I know alliums are generally not good for dogs to ingest. However are they ok topically? My dog has heavy floppy ears and is prone to ear infections. I have contemplated putting onion juice in his ears so many times to clear it up but am afraid of doing more harm than good….

If I recall correctly, Patrick has recommended using onion or garlic juice as an ear wash for dogs. 🙂

Ok cool…I will give it a try the next time he gets another infection.

This post is a couple of years old, but is the onion or garlic diluted for use as an ear wash? My dog has itchy ears. I don’t believe there is infection, but I would like to alleviate the itch, which is routinely first thing in the morning. Is there perhaps another gentle herb that can be used?
