We have a 4 1/2 year old German Shepherd who loves the raw Dill Green Beans that I ferment. I have some on my plate and she is drooling on the floor as I type! Her digestion is touchy, so I’ve been hesitant to give her very many of the beans at a time, maybe 2 or 3. Are fermented veggies good for dogs or not? Also, I’m wondering about cooked onions and garlic for her. Any suggestions?

Fermented foods are great for dogs (and other species that have digestive systems). If you think about it, wild dogs (wolves, coyotes etc…) eat an enormous amount of fermented foods in the guts of their herbivore prey species. Much of the GI tract of herbivores is composed of large fermentation vats to convert the plant matter into a more digestible form. If you watch predators feed, they always go for the salad bar first. 🙂

I don’t watch predators feed a lot, but I’ll take your word for it!
