With the cold and flu season coming, and the fact that Terri decided to start early and get it now, we have been looking at various formulas for what’s gonna be going around.

I’ve looked at Dr. Christopher’s Rx for an “Anti Plague Formula” but he liked to cook the herbs for hours on end. According to Doc Jones and common sense, cooking the herbs just doesn’t sound right.

There is a gal on the AVOW site that has a Rx that is tincture based that sounds more in line with what the Doc teaches. I’ll post it bellow.

        Do these complex formulas work?

        Eddie

        From “lehikaren”

        2 oz. of each

        Astragalus root

        Black Walnut

        comfrey root

        Echinacea root

        Ginger Root

        Lobelia herb

        Marshmallow

        Mullein leaf

        scullcap leaf

        uva ursi

        White oak bark

        Wormwood

        Yarrow

        Garlic 3.00lb.

You will need 2 gallons of 80 proof Vodka

        Instructions:

Herbal Tincture: Place herbs into a very large non metal pot, enamel coated is good or a glass one if you have it. You will need to have room for 1 ½ – 2 gallons of tincture in the pot so get a BIG one. I blend the rough cut herbs in the blender. Stir all the herbs really well into 1 – 1 ½ gallons Vodka. Then pour this mixture into (2) – 1 gallon jars with a good tight lid. Shake 2 times a day. For strong potency it is best after 12 weeks.

Keep jar in a paper sack for darkness.

        Garlic Tincture:

Peel 3 lbs. of organic garlic. Blend in 2 batches in a really good blender (I use a Vita Mix) using 1 – 1½ gallons of Vodka until apple sauce consistency. Place the vodka garlic mix in 1 -2 gallon jars with good tight lids.

I tincture the herbal tincture and garlic tincture separately. The garlic goes through a process where the copper in the garlic turns blue and green then the last stage is a honey color. After about 3 months of shaking 2 times a day I strain these mixtures( I use 100% cotton jersey) I add 50% herbal tincture & 50% garlic tincture together and place in a couple of gallon jars with the list of herbs and date and keep them in the dark. I use a dark amber quart jar in the pantry for filling 2 oz. tincture jars with droppers.

Not sure why it would NOT work, but boy, it is REALLY complex.

I am seeing some things that appear to have a HUGE overlap in purpose. Some things I am not sure why they are even in there.

No elder? No grape leaf? Let me go see if I can find the tincture we made for this last year:

          Yarrow

          Mint

          Grape Leaf

          Echinacea

Elder Leaf (shoot, doc, I can’t remember if this was in there or not, HELP!)

This one isn’t a simple tincture.

The Dr. Christopher formula takes an industrial kitchen!

Remember that the more plants you have in a formula, the less you have of each of them in a dose.

I have made and used complex formulas in the past, but the longer I use herbs, the more I tend to simpler formulations. I think 6 or so is about the max. If I go more than that, I’ll make a second formula. That way the dosages don’t get so dilute as to be useless.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Just remembered that my favorite way is to have the individual herbs (dry or tincture) and make it up as we go. This works REALLY well with muscle testing as you can then get it just right, herbs and dose.

Patrick, did you see my question above?

Yup. I think that was it. 🙂
