        Hello,

        I am new to your forum and herbal medicine in general.

        I a growing elecampane already couple years but not doing anything with it.

        When it a good time to dig roots and how to make cough syrup or tincture out of it?

          Hi Gail,

          Welcome to the forum. 🙂

          Elecampane roots can be dug any time but are best after a couple of years growth. The medicine may also be a little stronger in the fall of the year.

          Tincture the dried root in Vodka 100 grams of root to 500 cc vodka. Shake it every day and say nice things to if for a couple of weeks and strain it and bottle it. Keep it in the dark or in amber bottles.

          There are lots of ways to make syrups. Mine is the laziest/easiest…

          Take the tincture you want to make a syrup from and add raw honey until it’s the thickness you want…easy peasy. 🙂

            Elecampane roots can get pretty big. Chop it into chunks and then run that through a food grinder for best results.
