No information in search engine. This seems to be a powerhouse herb with only fledgling research that can be found. Grows wild locally. From limited research; anti-(inflammatory, bacterial, fungal, oxidant, spasmodic, microbial, biotic, coagulant), astringent, analgesic, cholagogue, diuretic, diaphoretic, sedative, heart tonic, immune system booster, BP regulator and vulnerary. Potential cancer treatment. Wow! Does anyone know details about this potential “A” list herb?

I know it is tasty and peppery, I use it in my mixed herb shaker, and my chickens like it too 🙂 I have it growing in my backyard garden and  I have harvested about a gallon of it! I was hoping to find some info on it here as well.

I also have fleabane in my yard, it looks very different, and I have a 3rd plant that looks sort of like fleabane but when i use my plant app it thinks it is horseweed… not sure what that is about… I am waiting for the flowers to form so I might get a better identity for it.

I have pictures, not sure how i can post those or even if it is possible to add pics to posts…

I’ve come across fleabane, erigeron, several times in reading- a very peppery stimulating flavor reflecting stimulating actions.  Oil of erigeron, along with cinnamon, was used to head off postpartum hemorrhage as it stimulates the capillary bed to sponge up more blood.  It stimulates kidneys to correct lax action such as too much urine.  It was recommended for diarrhea caused by a microorganism, so it was put to good use over the years apparently.  Whether it’s actually a bane to fleas is debated, either you put a whole plant in the dog house or fumigate with it.
