My husband just had an abdominal ultrasound because of pain in his upper right abdomen. We suspected gallstones, but he actually has fatty liver with two simple cysts 1.3cm and 1.4cm. We’re not exactly sure if this is the cause of the pain (he had described it as a sometimes tender/sore and sometimes sharp pain, like something is trying to poke out when he moves a certain way or coughs lying down). But I think we should try to help his liver out anyway.

He’s been changing his diet and increasing exercise (due to prediabetes and high cholesterol diagnoses). The Liver lesson mainly suggests to stop the contributing behaviors. I was also considering giving him the Liver Builder and Liver Support formulas. Would those help with fatty liver? And should they be given together, or just stick with Liver Builder?

I haven’t seen that anything can help the cysts directly. I am not sure surgery is recommended unless they get larger.

        Any insights appreciated!

Briana, Personally I would take both Liver builder and support.  Maybe research red clover as a possible herb for dissolving simple cysts.  I also suspect multiple medications over long periods stresses the liver.  I hope his changes help – best to you and your husband, Dee

A little tough to say. I made the formulas for my husband, but he’s not a very compliant patient. 😛 Since the doctor didn’t think it was a source of my husband’s pain, he didn’t directly discuss the liver issues further with him, either. (It stood out to us as the only remarkable finding from the ultrasound.) After a couple follow-up visits, the doctor said the pain was likely from acid reflux and he recommended a few lifestyle changes (cutting out energy drinks and reducing other caffeine sources, eating meals throughout the day and not one large meal at the end of the day, etc.). My husband hasn’t had that pain in a while, but the fatty liver and prediabetes issues are still floating around the back of my mind when he has other health complaints. But he switched doctors recently to a sharp, inquisitive lady, who we think will take his concerns more seriously, too. The last guy was pretty dismissive, and my husband would leave appointments with more questions and concerns than he walked in with.

              I appreciate the check-in!
