StudentHi Janet, and welcome. There is no need to be scared! We’re all pretty chill here – plants have that effect on us, lol. I agree, “real” food is medicine! Healing begins on the inside, with good nutrition. Since I discovered I have a wheat allergy, my own diet improved by default, simply because 90% of processed, prepackaged foods are not safe for me to consume.

StudentHi Everyone,
Like Janet, this is my first post. I love the thought of being able to have the knowledge God gave us to use what He created for use in our health and sickness. I am looking forward to this journey of discovery and I’m thankful for this course.

Homestead InstructorI just did a module on Food Therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It still needs some work but I thought I’d go ahead and post it up while I’m working on it.
The Chinese use food all the time as a therapeutic.Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentI too have witnessed the power of food that heals! I have learned and am learning to eat simple food, like beans, a potato, zucchini. No need to complicate things. And no recipe needed. Haha! Also I like to take fresh herbs and blend them into my green smoothies and drink them. I use things like parsley, comfrey or fennel. I especially like a chunk of ginger and the juice of a whole lemon.

StudentA family member had months of terrible abdominal pain before accepting my ginger tea blend. With the very first mug, he experienced pain cessation that opioids hadn’t provided. I’m in this course to learn and share accurate, simple healing through foods/herbs where I can.

Homestead InstructorGood work Deanne. Ginger really is wonderful for belly troubles.
Opioids for gut pain is a band-aid that often causes more gut issues than it fixes. Herbs trump drugs for gut stuff in nearly every case because they give the body what it needs to solve the problem rather than just telling it to quit complaining.

StudentI have been interested in herbs from a culinary perspective for a long time, but I am more and more interested in the different properties that these herbs have that can be so beneficial for our health and healing. Now that I have two young children of my own, they have been involved in making meals and gardening. I also want them to learn about the health and healing of herbs. I’m so thankful for this course.
