StudentMy Grandson is 2 months old. He is breastfed. His poop is extremely thick, and his pediatrician just recommended Miralax intermittently to help loosen the stool. There has got to be an herb or fiber recommendation that is better than an over-the-counter drug. I’m still new and not sure what is safe for a baby that young. Thanks in advance for the help!

Homestead InstructorOn a little bug that size we need to be really careful about internal herb use.
That said, some marshmallow root would be perfectly safe and would likely help.

Homestead InstructorI’d do a cold infusion generally. For an itty bitty kid, I might do a hot infusion just to make sure it was sterile…and obviously we’d cool it down before the little kid took it.

StudentHello everyone, I just found out my son has what is called a “sugar bug vein” – accompanied by dark circles under his eyes. I don’t really know much about it but as I read up on it I see that it could be caused by an Mthfr gene mutation that causes a number of problems like adhd, autism, and scoliosis… On the other hand- I read that it isn’t caused by the mutation at all, and is just a combination of big veins and thin baby skin… Does anyone have any experience with this? Have any kids had it? Outcomes? Was it addressed with diet & herbs and if so what and why? I’m just trying to understand this more. My baby has a fair complexion so a vein wouldn’t ordinarily make me worry but the accompanying under-eye circles and the mixed information make me believe if it is something that it might be gut/blood/nutrient related.? any thoughts?:))/\

Homestead InstructorHi Ariana,
Has a physician seen the little fellow lately? Most “sugar bud” veins are nothing and go away at about a year of age. I’d have your doctor look him over and see what he thinks before I got too worried about it.
Also, a post like this deserves its own thread. :0)
Maybe in the Case Studies section so more folks would notice it.
