A friend asked me why Rosemary Gladstar would have a hot infusion recipe that includes plantain if medicinal properties are lost when it’s heated up. From Doc’s plantain module, I think I understand that some constituents, not all, are lost in heating plantain. Is that right? And does anyone know which are reserved if in a hot tea and which are lost when heated?
It’s the aucubin that isn’t very heat stable. So, if you are after the anti-inflammatory properties, don’t heat it up. Otherwise everything else is OK in a hot tea.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
