Hello!  I have a freeze dryer and love it!  I’d like to try freeze drying roots such as hollyhock, burdock and chicory.  There really isn’t any info for this as far as I can see.  Anyone tried it?  Any tips?

Hi Jennifer, I have had my freeze dryer for 1 year and have freeze dried turmeric and ginger roots by just slicing them thinly.  I have also freeze dried herbs that I have grown like Holy Basil, Parsley, Grape Leaves, Cayenne Peppers, Oregano and Comfrey.  I am thrilled with the fact that my herbs will now keep fresh years longer!  Check out a YouTube channel called The Honeystead.  She is an herbalist and loves to freeze dry herbs.

Just make sure to chop or slice them in to small pieces and that your freeze dryer doesn’t exceed 110 degrees.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
