Ginko Leaves

I have a ginko tree and every year I have a fight with myself about when to harvest the leaves. Some sources say to harvest when the leaves are yellow, some say to harvest when they are just starting to turn yellow. Which is it?  And, I feel sad when I peel the leaves off before they are ready to fall off themselves. Can someone help me find my way? 🙂 Thanks!
