Good evening all. I’m a newbie here and have a question regarding Ginseng. I’ve read that Ginseng can lower blood pressure but to much can elevate and do the opposite. What is a good maintenance does and how much is to much? Thank you!

The term ginseng can refer to several species.

          1. Asian Ginseng (Panax ginseng): Also known as Red ginseng, Panax ginseng, Korean ginseng, has been investigated for its antihypertensive effects. Some studies have suggested that Asian ginseng may help lower blood pressure by improving blood vessel function and reducing oxidative stress.
          2. American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius): May help reduce blood pressure by promoting relaxation of blood vessels (vassodilation) and improving endothelial function.
          3. Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus): Some studies have indicated that Siberian ginseng may have mild antihypertensive effects relating to vasodilation, adaptogenic properties and anti-oxidant effects. It also modulates the renin-angiotensin system.

So, as you can see the actual mechanisms are pretty similar. The reason they can elevate blood pressure is that they’re stimulants. So, if you take too much, everything gets wound up.

We are working on a lesson just on high blood pressure. Should be up in a few weeks. There are a lot of variables. SOme folks get good results with the Circulatory Support formula.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
