Any information on how to reverse the progression of glaucoma in an elderly lady?

Hello Heather, I am just a student myself but while you await a reply from an experienced herbalist I thought you might be interested in Holy Basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum/Ocimum sanctum). I’ve seen it reported for several eye conditions including Glaucoma by an educated/experienced herbalist, if not, I wouldn’t share it. It can be steeped for an eye wash to use externally as well as a tea for internal use. I’m sharing with you so you can research this while you await a reply from someone experienced here. Good Luck and Good Health!

Ginkgo, bilberry and hops have all had some studies showing benefits. I don’t think any of them are better than medical interventions but if I had glaucoma, I’d be exploring the combination of those herbs with my medical treatment. That’d have to be done carefully with a specific attention to the specific meds being used of course.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Thank you Dr. Jones,  how does a baby herbalist go about finding those studies you speak of with the ginkgo, bilberry and the hops?

Go to Google Scholar and type in the Latin name of the plant you want and the issue and it’ll pull up the studies.
