Hi, I’m a new student and I’m excited to get started on this new educational journey!! I tried to post yesterday, but it didn’t seem to go through, so here goes.
We have 9 goats that we treat with a pre-made herbal dewormer that we give 3 days in a row, every month. It contains wormwood, garlic, fennel, and black walnut, and we add cinnamon, cayane, and slippery elm. It seems to work great, except one of the goats (a 5 month old kid) seems to purge a ton of tapeworm sections. We adopted him recently, so he came to our homestead with this issue. We have had him three months and I’m certain the tapeworm is still present. Obviously, I fear this poses a risk to the rest of the heard as well and worry about cross infection in the dogs too. Is there any additional herbal options to rid the tapeworm?
We have pastures we can rotate, but we bring them in to the barn at night for safety. I know it would be ideal if we could rotate pasture and keep them away from the area they were dewormed in, but we are not setup to do this yet.
