It’s known for urinary support. What about the other benefits?

        1. Do the leaves vs flowers have different herbal actions?
        (monograph mentions aerial parts)

        2. Are the leaves more astringent, a better antioxidant and anti-inflammatory (for wounds, skin issues and mouth sores)?

        3. Are the flowers better as an antihistamine?

        4. Which part is better as an antifungal for conditions such as candida and athlete’s foot?

Goldenrod is wonderful!  Its parts differ only slightly – the hint of leaf bitterness for digestion, the flowers tend slightly to respiratory and the root is more specific to the kidneys (so I’ve read, thanks for letting my inner herb geek ramble). Even so, I harvest aerials, reserve a jar of leaves specifically for tea, then use the rest for balm or tincture.  The flowers can be annoyingly fluffy to tincture.   I apply goldenrod for kidney/bladder issues, in a healing balm for injuries (probably applicable to fungal issues), and as a digestive aid.  Twice I’ve given goldenrod tincture for cat allergies and within two weeks people changed from “lungs on fire” to petting the cats.  Why not experiment and let us know what you think works best?

Thank you so much for the info. I was thinking about separating the leaves and the flowers but wasn’t sure if that would make a difference in herbal actions. This gives me some great starting points to experiment, we have tons of goldenrod coming in now. Love to hear the positive impact with cat allergies, I love to pet them but they make my eyes water and nose run…yet I continue to go back for more cuddles.
