The small home we are building on ten acres is in Idaho where winters are pretty harsh.  I would love to grow Rosemary, Calendula, Echinacea and many more herbs for my own personal apothecary and use.  Has anyone here grown these herbs in a greenhouse?  If so, did you plant in the ground or in pots?  How did they overwinter?

My wife and I 20 minutes from north Idaho on the Washington side and we grow 30+ different herbs and vegetables without a greenhouse, mainly because our property isn’t big enough for one. For new starts we start indoors for some but we still direct sow and all our herbs overwinter well with the only exception being Rosemary. We have yet to get Rosemary to successfully overwinter, even in pots indoors, so we just buy a new start every year. Let me know if you have any questions about any herbs or anything in this area!
