StudentHello everyone!
I just joined, and am looking forward to all of the great training and community. My situation may be different than most of you in that I’m a certified, life-long city slicker. 🙂
My husband and I currently live with my 92-year-old mom in her home with a very small yard. In the future, my husband and I plan to move to a condo in Colorado, with two small north-facing balconies, and a small community garden. Needless to say, my outdoor growing opportunities are very limited.
Especially with my future living situation in mind, I plan to become an expert in indoor gardening, particularly in hydroponics. As such, my experience and gardening methods will be much different than most here, but I’m hoping that as I gain experience, I can help other urban dwellers to grow and use medicinal plants, and where to source herbs that can’t be grown hydroponically.
I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you.

StudentWelcome Rebecca! I am 100% with you, I’ve only lived in big cities my whole life, even spent time living in one of the biggest cities on the planet haha. We have a small lot now but you would be surprised at all the wonderful things you can grow in a small area

StudentTopic AuthorHi Greg, nice to meet a fellow urban-dweller! At least I do have a small amount of outdoor growing space at the moment. When we move to the condo, at least there is a small community garden. I can’t figure out how to insert a photo in these posts (I looked under the insert tab, and while I see the option to do so, it doesn’t make sense to me.) So here is a link to a photo of the community garden. So it’s not much, but better than nothing! There are a ton of pine trees on the grounds, so if nothing else, there is a lot of pine needle tincture and tea in my future. 🙂 I also hope to learn how to forage, build relationships with neighbors with yards, and become a master indoor gardener. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! 🙂

StudentYeah I think linking to pictures is the easiest way I’ve found to do it. I definitely recommend growing Calendula where you can, it is so useful and will produce loads and loads of flowers!
