Hello there! I was wanting to make some tinctures and tea blend with some common kitchen herb like fennel, sage and rosemary. Many things I know I can grow but when I can’t, I want to be able to buy what I need. Are there some brands that are better than others at the local grocery stores that anyone trust or should I order from an herb company? I just don’t know how old my grocery store herbs are. What’s everyone think? Thanks – Shannon

If I buy herbs from the grocery store to use medicinally, I get the fresh (preferably organic) stuff from the produce section.  I only use the dry stuff in the little jars for cooking, and only if I don’t have something better.

Yup. Michelle is right. The culinary herbs in the little tins aren’t worth the bother. Buy fresh herbs (preferably from a farmer’s market to avoid chemicals), grow your own or buy dry medicinals from someone who’s treating the stuff like medicine.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
