Hello, I am going through the threads looking for a little guidance on how to help my guinea.  She has been limping about a week.  I have caught her and checked for injuries, swelling, redness, wounds, etc and have not found anything.  While out free ranging yesterday, she flew and when she landed couldn’t get up.  Her leg is now dangling, she won’t put any weight on it.   I still don’t see or feel anything wrong so maybe it is just dislocated.  Any advice here would be appreciated.

          Hi Crystal,

Sounds like a dislocation or a very high fracture. Both of those are mechanical problems and would require mechanical solutions. That’ll be pretty tough in a Guinea hen. Especially as high as it probably is. Unless you have a local vet that can do something, your best be will be to put her down. If, it’s just a tweaked muscle she’ll probably be over it in a couple of days. If it isn’t just a soft tissue injury, there probably isn’t a financially-realistic solution for a bird like that.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
