Hi there,  We pruned out some wild cherry sprouts (about 1/2 inch thick) and I am trying to get the cambium off .  How thick do I go?  How do I know when I’m into the (non medicinal) wood?  Has anyone tried this?

        Thanks!

The outer bark is pretty thin on branches that size. The cambium is green. On wild cherry stuff that small I just take all the bark. Trying to separate the inner from the outer isn’t worth the time.
