Does anyone grow Heal-All in their garden or know more on the plant’s medicinal properties? I didn’t know of this plant until I saw it at a market one day and came back to research on it, I know it’s part of the mint family, so it’s going to have calming and soothing properties, and from it’s name it’s good for healing too, but just curious if anyone has any case studies on this herb 🙂 thanks

I would like to learn more about it too. I collected some and dried it but would like more information from someone who uses it.

Lots of folks also call it Self Heal (Prunella vulgaris). Like most mints it has quite a few antibiotic and antiviral (retroviruses and herpesviruses) properties. It’s also good for gut stuff (diarrhea etc…).  Good for poison ivy, moth infections etc….

It’s not a rock star among the mints but certainly worth picking and using if it’s handy. I’ll do a lesson on it.

Hi Doc, If I can dig further, do you prefer other herbs (i.e. Lemon Balm for viruses, Blackberry leaf for diarrhea, Jewel weed for Poison Ivy) when you said it works for these but not a rock star? Maybe “use what you have” for these issues when the better choice isn’t available or is it equally beneficial so maybe you can eliminate some of the others from your wish list 😉

I would love to hear the lesson on Self Heal – we have it growing everywhere.

It’s a very good plant. It wouldn’t be my first choice for some things but I’d absolutely use it for those things if it was handy.

Andre Segovia can play circles around James Taylor. But James Taylor is still an excellent guitarist.

I have Heal-All growing in my yard, and would LOVE to give starts to anyone who would like them.  Its a really pretty, low-growing plant, that flowers most of the summer.  It grows like most mints, which like to take over your life!
