StudentHey there!
I need some help directing me to find the info I need. I think what I’m dealing with is allergies. I don’t have any of the normal allergy symptoms..runny nose, itching etc. Every Spring I deal with my lungs. My chest gets so irritated and painful. I have a horrible sensation that makes me have to cough. I have to cough a deep racking cough to be able to breath. It gets so painful and often I have coughing fits that won’t stop. They are dry and totally unproductive. The cough feels like it is ripping through my chest. Often I lose my voice. This season I didn’t lose my voice but I have been hacking for almost two weeks. I’m not getting any better. My chest(lungs) r in so much pain. They r actually burning this morning. I don’t know where to look in the school to educate me and give me answers on how to treat this.
would love any input asap. Dying over here in SC. Thanks!!! -

You can mix some essential oils like peppermint and eucalyptus together with a carrier oil (like coconut oil, olive oil ,jojoba oil) and rub it on your chest to relieve your sinuses and help breath a little easier. Some teas that would be great to drink is Peppermint, Brigham tea, Ginger, Nettle, and Licorice root tea. You could also run a essential oil diffuser at night or during the day. Gumweed is an expectorant herb that can help break up mucus and promote cough productivity. Cramp and willow bark are great at loosening and relaxing so it might help with your coughing fits. Below is a homeopathic allergy relief that my family uses :

StudentHi Shelly, I’m so sorry you are dealing with this.
You could try a mullein tincture orally every morning I have had some success with it in helping get what needs to get out of the lungs out and calming them down. A warning though it can make the coughing worse before it gets better.I hope you feel better soon.

StudentHi Shelly,
I’m sorry you are going through this. Â I have two thoughts that I hope will be of help to you. Â First, I accidentally got rid of most of my allergies when I took probiotics for digestive issues. Â Prebiotics feed these probiotics. Â Secondly, seven years ago, I cold-damaged (think frostbite)my lungs where it feels like I have burning blisters inside my lungs. Â My Naturopath put me on NAC and that has been most helpful. Â It has also brought my blood oxygen levels up to 90-92. Â I still get asthma from the cold and forest-fire smoke. Â I have found mullein most helpful of herbs. Â Our health food store had never heard of elecampane, so I hope to be growing elecampane this year to see if it helps. Â Hope you find healing; burning lungs is no fun.

Dr. Patrick Jones
Homestead InstructorI’d approach from two angles, first the allergies and as mentioned by Elizabeth, here’s the lesson.
Immune System & Lymphatics III: Allergies, Autoimmune Disease & Leaky Gut
Second the cough itself. No reason to be miserable. Mullein as mentioned above, is good as are cramp bark and wild cherry bark. Have a look at the Respiratory Cof formula’s herbs

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
