StudentMy 75 y/o mother was just diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. It was actually discovered while a scan was being done for something totally unrelated. Thankfully, they caught it early and there is no trace of it anywhere else. She is scheduled to have surgery to remove the tumor and possibly her spleen (I think) at the end of January. I have been researching like crazy for things to help her. (I live in a different state so I’m doing what I can long distance.) I am reading a book that mentions great results people have gotten using Essiac tea and also Hoxsley tonic. They are somewhat similar…has anyone had any experience with either or suggestions I could send her? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dr. Patrick Jones
Homestead InstructorFirst of all, don’t do anything herbal for a week or two prior to surgery.
Have a look at the Case study lesson on David in the Case Studies section. We talk about pancreatic cancer there and some herbs that it doesn’t like. I start talking about pancreas stuff at about slide #45.
Have a look at the Cancer lesson as well in the Diseases & Herbal Interactions section.
Sure sorry you and your mom are having to go through this. We’ll sure be saying some prayers.

StudentRegarding Essiac: A friends father-in-law was fighting prostate cancer, had the seed implants. Wasn’t successful so they stopped the treatment. It has caused a hole in his colon and he was not able to eat. He was given about 4 days to live, the family was called in for last goodbyes. My friend brought Essiac tea with them. Gave it to him in small quantities throughout the day. A dr from India, came into the hospital room and asked what they were doing. After finding out it was Essiac, he left the room. They followed and asked questions. He told them that in India it is used all the time but in the US, they can’t use it. They continued using it and by the 4th day, he went home from the hospital, doing well. He continued with the Essiac until he went for his checkup a month later. As a result, his doctor (not the one from India) attributed his recovery to the previous treatment. He persuaded him to take one more treatment to complete the process and he died as a result.
Essiac has burdock roots, slippery elm, sheep sorrel, turkish rhubarb root. Recipe is in book “Miracle food cures from the Bible” by Reese Dubin. Includes great write up on how Essiac came to be. Ojibwa Indians gave her the recipe. There is another Ojibwa tea that has some additional ingredients like red clover & licorice root that I drink on occasion. Both are described as good for the immune system.

StudentYou might want to take a look at the Linda Isaacs, MD website at http://www.drlindai.com
She and the late Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez developed an alternative cancer therapy protocol and had a very high success rate which was especially impressive with pancreatic cancer. It’s a rather intense program so it’s not for everyone, but I certainly would check it out. Praying for a good outcome.
