        Hello Herbal Friends!!!

I found this gorgeous Cuyamaca Cypress branch and brought it home to make medicine. My friend is suffering from hair loss and I want to make her a hair oil.

I shoved seed pods/with sap, branches and leaves in a quart jar, then filled with Organic Olive oil (3/4) and Castor Oil (1/4)

I then forgot that the herbs should be “DRY”…

Can anyone tell me if bacteria will grow with the antiseptic CYPRESS??? I don’t want to waste this medicine.

Is there another way to prepare OIL INFUSIONS with FRESH plant material? How can I save this oil??

        Please Help!

        Thank you!

My guess is that it will be fine. It should not take long for you to know if it will spoil. Just make sure that ALL of the material stays below the top of the oil to eliminate that part of the equation. Use something inert if you have to. See my post on fermenting for an idea.

          Let us know what happens!

Toss it in a double boiler for an hour and bottle it up. The “Dry herbs only” rule is only for oil infusions that you’re going to let sit for the two weeks. You can use fresh herbs if you’re doing the double boiler method.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
