When I first started this journey in 2020, I bought a bunch of herbs. They arrived in the mail and I put them into sealed jars. Now I am wondering if they are all no good. Do I smell them and if they lost their smell, compost them or just compost them based on the date?

I am really hoping this is not an expensive lesson but am afraid it is…

Most dry herbs have a shelf life of a year or so but it varies. They won’t be spoiled or poison. But many of them will be markedly weaker. I’d probably compost them. Next time make tinctures for better shelf life. :0)

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
