I’ve noticed that in some people, Covid seems to affect the digestive tract, causing acid reflux where there wasn’t any before.  Doc says that Mullein Root tightens the sphincter of the bladder, which I have found to be true.  Is there an herb that will tighten up the upper esophageal sphincter to control acid reflux?

I use Apple cider vinegar but not for covid related acid re flux.
Also sleeping at an incline is a must, just having pillows behind you or some people put risers under the heads of their bed to tilt the whole thing.

ACV has been a lifesaver for me countless times.  It’s definitely a staple in our kitchen year round!

Thanks, Sly.  My friend’s digestive issues are slowly resolving, including the acid reflux.  Who knew that covid could trigger such a thing?  I did suggest AC Vinegar, and it seemed to help when she remembers to take it before she eats.  Also small meals seem to help her.  Hopefully the gut tenderness will improve also.

I have a book that talks about exercises for the “ring” muscles.  If I am remembering right, all of the exercises benefit all of the ring muscles.  So, if I had to guess, it sure seems like if an herb (in this case: Mullein Rt) helps one ring muscle, it would help with all.  But of course, I do not know that for a fact.  It just seems logical.

What is the name of the book?

Its a bit bizarre, but, here it is: “The secret of the ring muscles”

One thing I remember from it was: say the vowels a, e, i, o, u, with GREAT accentuation, so in effect, you are exercising the mouth (which is apparently part of the ring muscles – – – I do not remember if that is so, just using logic here.)  I am thinking singing or voice lessons maybe be a more “fun” way to go.  Just a hunch. Singing affects a LOT of things. Notably, the diaphram.

                        Hunch: an intuitive feeling

Thanks!  I’ll look for the book.

He mentions in the video that part of the mullein plant is anti-viral.

At time stamp 2:30 he talks about how the “root” is good for the “trigonal” muscles. The trigonal muscles are formed by the two ureteric orifices.  (That sounds like a ring type muscle to me . . . but what do I know)

The paper copy of The Secret of the Ring Muscles is super expensive, but I found a place that offered it as a free download.  Thanks for the tip!

I haven’t seen a covid related acid reflux but I’ve addressed lot of the regular kind. The Digestive Support powder 3 X a day and as needed almost always helps a lot.

Thanks, Doc.  All sorts of digestive related problems started for my friend when she had covid…..constipation, acid reflux, sore and bloated gut, halitosis.  She’s getting better a bit at a time.  I’ll suggest the Digestive Support powder to her.

                                      Uses for Turmeric

This was an incredibly informative thread!  So now I know how *not* to use pepper!  I had always wondered why pepper was not recommended by a particular individual.  In this thread it mentions that pepper should be used last (as opposed to putting it in soup while cooking the soup.) So, I wonder where the idea of “salt and pepper” came from!?

In “Turmeric” Thread above, 2nd post Idaho Herbalist says:

“Sometimes when I drink too much water and my stomach gets sour or some sort of acid reflux starts happening”

A-ha!  This happens to somebody else! (only with me, it is with drinking teas and not water!)

I am guessing this is somebody we all are suppose to know????   🙂
