StudentOur 3 1/2 yo granddaughter lives with my husband and I. She is non verbal (but in speech therapy 2X wk) and autistic. Her sleep patterns are terrible! She doesn’t nap, ADHD is probably an issue and what she will eat is quite limited…although I did get her to eat 4 fermented carrot sticks the other day. We have a small farm with an A2/A2 Guernsey milk cow, I’ve considered going GF with her but am trying her on sprouted and/or fermented grains & flours first. Until I can get her to eat more foods pasta, rice and cheese/yogurt are her main staples. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Student- Fruit! My granddaughter is autistic. She does so much better when she eats fruit, especially bananas and apples. Her parents are doing a gluten free diet in their home. My daughter is very high functioning autistic. She does better eating veggies and fruit, with occasional meat. It is a constant challenge. Good luck!

StudentWhen one of our kids was 27 months old, 14 professionals signed off that he would never pass second grade. He is currently in sixth grade and starting one of the anatomy and physiology classes from the HomeGrown Herbalist. I attribute lots of prayers and the Nemecheck Protocols to his growth from non-verbal to current progress. You can look it up. We started with inulin. The fish oil was more of a challenge to get him to take until he was older and could understand why he was taking it. Increasing olive oil to help with an imbalance of Omegas wasn’t too difficult. There is a bit more to the protocol, but that is the bare basics. There is a book that you might be able to find at the library called The Nemechek Protocols for Autism. Just search for Nemechek. Many families, us included, just placed all of our kids on the protocol, and many adults jumped in as well. Our daughter has a brain condition. When she was four, her Neurosurgeon told us that it was not if she would have brain surgery, but when. She is now ten and was released from her Neurosurgeon last year without having surgery. The only time her brain would get worse was when we were off the protocol, specifically the fish oil. Currently, she is off the protocol as she doesn’t need it. Of course, we do continue to use inulin periodically. I’m sure there are other herbs that you could use as well.

Homestead InstructorI’ll have to look into that Nemechek protocol. Sounds interesting.
