Herbs for healthy coat (canine)

We just adopted a new dog from the shelter. She’s a young pointer, so a short, single coat. She seems to be kind of itchy, scratching quite a bit, with some rough skin on the edges of her ears. I’ve never had a pointer before, so I don’t know what it’s supposed to feel like, but hers seems a bit coarse to me….

Anyway, are there any herbs that promote a healthy coat? We have her on a grain free kibble, and we are considering adding a raw egg to her food. She was just spayed, I don’t know if that would make a difference.

Also, we will be bringing her in for a checkup soon.

Fish oil often helps. Could be allergies too which is a completely different issue.
