StudentI had a tooth extracted in 2020 and a (cow) bone graft placed for a dental implant. The graft failed and I was never able to get the implant. I guess my body dissolved it? I had a few other procedures that year as well as getting covid. The next year I started developing pain in my left ear and jaw – the same area as the extraction and bone graft. I had x-rays, MRI, and nasal scope – couldn’t find anything wrong. I worked with a cosmetic dentist and got dental veneers to correct my jaw alignment/tmj and a bridge where my tooth was extracted. It seemed to help at first, but the pain returned and it goes to my neck, shoulder and sometimes my eye. I’ve tried pharmaceutical antibiotics, steroids, chiropractic, massage, meditation, ibuprofen/Goody’s and even pulled back from my hours at work to reduce stress – with no relief. I have a gut feeling it’s somehow related to my dental work but am at my wits end. I’m willing to try almost anything to get relief.
Any suggestions on herbs that may help relieve my jaw and neck pain?

StudentHave you tried cramp bark? I find it amazingly helpful when I wake up with a headache due to poor neck posture. I know your problems are significantly different from a “simple case of poor neck posture,” (unless the work done in your mouth has somehow caused you to alter the way you rest your head and neck while sleeping?) Anyway, it worth a try.

StudentIf the pain is due to a nerve, I’m wondering if teasel would help.

Dr. Patrick Jones
Homestead InstructorTeasel might be good. It sometimes really helps nerves that are chronically aggravated to stop being silly about things that happened a long time ago.
The Rezzimax Tuner is also sometimes quite good for pains like that. You might also look at the Tooth Abzez formula. If you have a low-grade infection in that site that’s aggravating the nerve it can cause pain.
Have a look at the Pain Management lessons too.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentThat’s also what I was thinking. Just read the Teasel section in Doc’s Medicinal Weeds Book, today. Very great information.
Hope you have found relief, now nearly a year after your original post.

Herb Thyme
StudentHi, what about a hops and skullcap tincture? Or even just skullcap. I used it for pain after a surgery. It really seems to help.
I think the calming and the nerve aspect of those two herbs would help your situation.
