In The Forager’s Guide to Wild Foods, by Nicole Apelian, she mentions lilac flowers being used to prevent macular degeneration and cataracts.  Lutein is the active compound.  Only the flowers are edible.

Great to know! I live in the Lilac City, I should be able to find some of that around here somewhere

Dandelion greens for fiber to feed gut bacteria
              rosemary protects your retina
Ginkgo biloba improves blood flow and cellular metabolism

In my reading many professionals recommend cleansing the GI tract and some recommend cleansing the liver/bile again after the “full” cleanse. I just ordered herbal cleanse kit to start out the new year right;) Any herbs to improve GI tract and liver/bile metabolism.

Ms. Marsha, in your readings, are there specific amounts of herbs/day to help? thanks.

Great info. I have the beginnings of both cataracts and macular degeneration.

I wish any of these things could help my hubby.  His is scar tissue on the macula, and thus not treatable or “repairable”.  He has lost a LOT of his vision – now in both eyes.  Hasn’t driven since 2017.  I might start using some of these just to protect MY eyes since I am the only driver now.  Can’t afford to loose my vision.  I hope these things work for you guys!
